Planting Instructions: Soil Preparation: Remove weeds, large rocks, and litter from the planting area. Till the soil 8-10 inches deep and rake several times to break up large clods. It is best to do this when the soil is dry enough to not stick to garden tools. Loosening the soil will help the plant establish strong roots. Planting: In the Spring, plant beans after all danger of frost has passed. In the Fall, plant beans 10 to 12 weeks before the first expected frost. For large plots, use ¼ to ½ pound of seed for each 100 feet of row of green beans. Plant bush beans 1 inch deep and 1 to 2 inches apart in the rows that are 3 feet apart. Planting in moist soil is best for seeds to germinate and emerge quickly. After the beans have sprouted, thin the plants to 3-4 inches apart. Planting Depth: 1 inch Within-Row Spacing: 1-2 inches, thin to 3-4 inches Between-Row Spacing: 3 feet Care During the Season: Watering: Water the plants about once a week in dry weather. Try not to let the soil dry out while the beans are blooming or the blooms will drop and yields will be decreased. Weeding: The roots of beans grow near the soil surface. When hoeing and pulling weeds, try not to dig too deep to prevent the plant’s roots from damage. Fertilizing: As the plants begin to flower and set beans, you may optionally apply fertilizer to help plants produce more beans. Apply by scattering between the rows about 1/2 cup of fertilizer for every 10 feet of row. Water the plants after fertilizing. Insecticides: Insecticides may be used to protect plants. Bt-based insecticides and sulfur are organic options. Sulfur also has fungicidal properties and helps in controlling many diseases. Before using a pesticide, read the label and always follow cautions, warnings and directions. Diseases: Diseases may be a possibility during cool, wet weather. If spots appear on leaves or bean pods, treat the plant with an approved fungicide. Neem oil, sulfur, and other fungicides may be used. Harvesting: Pick beans when they are about 6 inches long and as thick as a pencil for best taste. If beans are picked, the plants will continue producing for several weeks. Beans are over-mature if they are tough, dry, fading in color, or stringy. Fresh beans can be frozen or stored in a refrigerator for a week. Do not eat treated seeds. **Seeds are freshly packed for the growing season of the year listed. Seeds are still viable beyond pack date. Store in a cool and dry location such as the refrigerator or basement to best preserve germination rates. Planting Instructions: Soil Preparation: Squash grows best in sandy, fertile soils with a pH between 6.0 and 6.5. To prepare soil, remove weeds, large rocks, and litter from the planting area. Leave small weeds and dead grass, they will enrich the soil when turned under. Spade the soil 8-12 inches deep and turn each shovel of soil over completely to cover the plant materials with soil. You may add fertilizer (see “Fertilizing” below) or 2-3 inches of organic material such as compost, leaves, or rotted hay over the planting area at this point. Till to mix this organic material into the top 8-10 inches of soil. For squash, make rows of soil beds 4-6 inches high and at least 3 feet apart. This formation of ridges will help with drainage. Planting: Since squash does not grow well in cool weather, plant in the spring after all danger of frost has passed and the soil begins to warm. For a good fall crop, plant early so squash will mature before the first killing frost. To plant, make 1 inch deep holes spaced 4 feet apart in raised beds down the rows, then plant 5-6 seeds in each hole. Cover thinly with soil and water after planting. After the seeds come up and plants are 3-4 inches tall, thin to 3 squash plants per hill. Planting Depth: 1 inch Within-Row Spacing: 4 feet Between-Row Spacing: 8 feet Care During the Season: Watering: Water the plants enough to keep them from wilting. If the weather is really dry, squash plants should be watered at least once a week. Sandy soils need to be watered more often than heavy clay soils. Weeding: Keep squash plants as weed-free as possible. When plowing or hoeing do not dig deeper than 1 inch to prevent from cutting the feeder rooters which may slow the plant’s growth. Fertilizing: You may optionally add scatter 2-3 pounds of a complete fertilizer for each 100 square feet of garden area. Work into the soil and leave the surface smooth. For small gardens, use 2-3 tablespoons of fertilizer for each hill. Scatter the fertilizer evenly over a 2 foot by 2 foot area. work it into the top 2-3 inches of soil. When blooms first appear, you may optionally apply 2 tablespoons of fertilizer around each hill. Do not let fertilizer touch the plants. Water the plants after fertilizing. Insecticides: Insecticides may be used to protect plants. Bt-based insecticides and sulfur are organic options that can be used for prevention. Sulfur also has fungicidal properties and helps in controlling many diseases. Larvae of the Squash vine borer are usually found inside the stem and cannot be controlled once they are inside the stem. Sevin® and Thiodan® can control for squash bugs. Pyrethrin and rotenone can control for the cucumber beetle. Before using a pesticide, read the label and always follow cautions, warnings and directions. Diseases: Squash can get many diseases, especially when harvesting begins. Check the plants daily and if spots or mold appear, treat the plant with an approved fungicide. Neem oil, sulfur, and other fungicides may be used. Please always follow label directions. Harvesting: Harvest winter squash when they are full sized, the skin is hard, and the bottom of the fruit is lightened in color. A light frost will not damage fruits of winter squash. A light frost will not damage fruits of winter squash. Squash is best when cut, not pulled, from the vine. Winter squash can be stored for several months. Old squash vines can be composted or worked in the soil well before the Spring planting season. Monique French Shallot Sets (Bulbs) | Semi Long Onion Seed 2025 Fast Shipping

International shipping estimates are currently applied to the 4 lb size. Please message us for a custom quote. Monique French Shallot Sets are a great choice for gardeners who want tasty green onions early in the growing season and storage shallots later in the summer. Monique French shallots are semi-long shaped bulbs with rust colored skin and light pink flesh. They are highly desired by chefs for their easy-to-peel elongated bulbs and high sugar profile, perfectly suiting them for caramelizing. In contrast to onions, red shallots have thinner layers and are quicker to lose their pungency in cooking, leaving a delicate yet high depth of flavor while retaining their crunch. When raw, they have a powerful flavor with less bite. Shallots are excellent for roasting whole in tarte tatins and curries, pairing with chicken and fish, caramelizing with steak, pickling, and chopped in soffritos and vinaigrettes. Monique are usually 3-4 inches long at maturity and store well after curing. Also Known As: Echalote, Esharotto, Ulle, Torshi, Mooseer, Sibuya, 青葱, छोटे प्याज़, About Shallot Sets or Bulbs: Shallot sets and Onion sets are small starter bulbs specifically for gardening. Shallot sets are reliable and easy to grow, they establish quickly, and are easy to plant compared to seeds or transplants. Plant in Fall for an early Summer harvest or in early Spring for a harvest in late Summer. We ship in 1 business day. Shipped with USPS First Class Mail. Plant Name: Shallot, Monique F1 Latin Name: Allium cepa aggeratum Days to Germinate: 7-14 Days to Harvest: 100-130 (Plant Spring/Summer), 210-240 (Plant Fall/Winter) Growth Habit: Root, Noon Day USDA Zones: 2-12 Lifespan: Biennial Brand: TomorrowSeeds Sunlight: Full Sun, Partial Shade GMO: No Pollination: Hybrid Fungicide-Treated Seeds*: No Seeds Packed For**: 2025 *Fungicide-treated seeds protect the seedlings from diseases until they are up and growing. Do not eat treated seeds. **Seeds are freshly packed for the growing season of the year listed. Seeds are still viable beyond pack date. Store in a cool and dry location such as the refrigerator or basement to best preserve germination rates. Planting Instructions: Soil Preparation and Fertilizing: Choose an area with well-draining soil and receives full sunlight each day. When it is dry enough to not stick to garden tools, work the soil. Before seeding or transplanting, remove all rocks and trash from the soil, then dig or plow the soil 8-10 inches deep and rake up several times to break up large clods. At this point, you may optionally spread 2-3 pounds of a complete fertilizer per 100-square-feet of garden area. Measure and spread the fertilizer, then mix it with the top 3-4 inches of soil. Rake until smooth. Tip: If you live in an area with heavy clay or hard soil, add a 1 inch layer of compost to improve soil texture. Planting: Shallots are a cool-season crop and can stand temperatures well below freezing. They may be planted from seeds, from small bulbs called sets, or from transplants. Seeding costs the least but takes longer before onions are ready. If starting shallots from seeds, you may start them indoors about 6 weeks before you plan to transplant them to the garden. Shallot seeds need temperatures of at least 50°F (10°C) to germinate properly. Or, you may direct sow shallot seeds outdoors by planting them 1/4 inch deep during October through December (for biggest bulbs in a May/July harvest). Place the seeds 1 inch apart in rows spaced 1-2 feet apart. When the plants are about 6 inches high, thin them to 1 plant every 2-3 inches. You may eat the extra plants as scallions. When using sets or transplants, plant October-February (for biggest bulbs in May/July harvest). Plant shallot sets with the point end up 3/4 inch deep and 3 inches apart. Try not to transplant shallots more than 1 inch deep. As the cold chill of winter arrives, the shallot plants go dormant. Then, as the temperatures and soil warm again in early spring, the shallots come back to life. Bulbs/Transplants: Planting Depth: 3/4 inch Within-Row Spacing: 3 inch Between-Row Spacing: 1- 2 feet Care During the Season: Watering: Watering once a week is usually enough in the Spring. You may need to water more often during dry, windy weather. Slow, deep watering helps the root system grow strong. Weeding and Pruning: Weeds are easy to pull or cut when they are 3-4 inches tall. Try not to let weeds or grasses grow large because they will compete with shallots for nutrients. If hoeing to remove weeds, be careful not to cut too deeply as cutting the feeder rooters may slow the plant’s growth. It is better to pull by hand when possible. Fertilizing: When the shallot plants develop several shoots, you may optionally apply fertilizer again to help grow larger plants and bigger bulbs. Use about 1/2 cup of fertilizer for each 10 feet of shallot row. Scatter the fertilizer evenly between the rows around the plants. Then water the shallots after adding the fertilizer. Insecticides: Shallots have few insect problems. However, thrips, which are very tiny insects, may be found between the center leaves. Many Insecticides are available in garden centers for use if needed. Bt-based insecticides and sulfur are organic options that can be used. Sevin is a synthetic insecticide option. Before using a pesticide, please read the label and always follow cautions, warnings and directions. Diseases: Diseases may be problem on onions. Brown leaf tips or brown spots on the middle and lower parts of leaves may be caused by plant diseases. Sulfur has fungicidal properties than can help control many diseases. Neem oil and other fungicides are available for use. Please always follow cautions, warnings, and directions. Harvesting: Shallots seeded in October/December or set/transplanted in January/February should produce bulbs in May/July. If used as green onions, they may be picked from the time they are pencil size until they begin to form bulbs. For dry-bulb shallots, let the plants grow larger. The shallots are ready when the main stem begins to get weak and fall over. Pull the plants out of the soil. Leave them lying in the garden for about 1-2 days to dry. Then remove the tops and roots and let them keep drying in baskets or boxes. Shallots can be stored in a refrigerator crisper or in a dry, airy place such as a in a wire net in the garage or carport. Do not eat treated seeds. **Seeds are freshly packed for the growing season of the year listed. Seeds are still viable beyond pack date. Store in a cool and dry location such as the refrigerator or basement to best preserve germination rates. Planting Instructions: Soil Preparation: Choose an area with heavy, well-draining soil that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. Several weeks before planting, prepare dig or plow the soil 8-10 inches deep and rake up several times to break up large clods. Work the soil when it is dry enough to not stick to garden tools. You may optionally apply manure, compost, peat moss, or rotted hay to build the organic matter content of the soil, especially if working with heavy clay. Planting: Try not to plant seeds until the soil warms in the spring and all danger of frost is past since peppers grow best in warm weather. For Fall planting, plant peppers 12-16 weeks before the first expected frost. Starting peppers indoors and then transplanting outdoors will be easier than if starting from seed outdoors. If direct sowing, plant 3-4 seeds in 1/2 inch deep holes spaced 1 1/2 feet apart within rows spaced 3 feet apart (from hole to hole). If transplanting, plant 3-4 seeds 1/2 inch deep in a pot. When pepper plants are 4-6 inches tall, transplant outdoors. Make 3-4 inch-deep transplant holes spaced 1 1/2 feet apart within raised rows spaced 3 feet apart (from plant to plant). Fill the holes with water and let it soak in. The slightly sunken areas that were created will help the plant to retain water. Move the plants carefully from the pots or flats and set them in the transplant holes, leaving as much soil as possible around the roots. Fill the hole with soil and pack it loosely around the plant. Leave a slightly sunken area around each plant to hold water. Water the plants after planting. It is best to transplant peppers in the evening or a cloudy day to prevent plants from drying too much and wilting. Planting Depth: 1/2 inch Within-Row Spacing: 1 1/2 feet Between-Row Spacing: 3 feet Care During the Season: Watering: Water the plants enough to keep from wilting. Slow, deep watering helps the root system grow strong. Try not to let pepper plants wilt because this will reduce yield and quality of the fruit. Weeding and Pruning: Keep plants as weed-free as possible. When tilling or hoeing, be careful not to cut too deeply into the soil near the pepper plants as cutting the feeder rooters may slow the plant’s growth. Pull by hand any weeds that are close to the plants. Fertilizing: You may optionally add 2-3 pounds of a complete fertilizer per 100 square feet of garden area. Spread the fertilizer evenly over the garden and work into the soil. If planting single pepper plants, after the first pepper begins to enlarge, you may optionally place about 2 level tablespoons of fertilizer around each plant about 6 inches from the stem, then mix it well with the soil. Water the plant after adding the fertilizer. This will increase the yield and quality of the peppers. Insecticides: Insecticides may be used to protect plants. Bt-based insecticides and sulfur are organic options that can be used for prevention. Sulfur also has fungicidal properties and helps in controlling many diseases. Sevin is a synthetic insecticide that can be used to control for the flea beatle. Insecticidal soaps and neem oils are good ways to control for aphids. Before using a pesticide, please read the label and always follow cautions, warnings and directions. Diseases: Watch pepper plants closely, especially in mild weather. Leaf spots are caused by fungi and bacteria and can be treated with neem oil, sulfur, and other fungicides. Please always follow label directions. Harvesting: Peppers are usually ready for harvest 8-10 weeks after transplanting. Harvest Shishito peppers when they are still bright green and wrinkly and reach a usable size, about 3-4 inches. Use garden shears to cut peppers by their stems from the plant. The North Georgia Candy Roaster is a remarkable heirloom squash variety cherished for its distinctive elongated shape and vibrant pink to orange skin with green-painted blossom end. The robust vines of this plant can extend widely, producing large, torpedo-shaped squashes that can weigh between 10 – 20 pounds. Inside, the rich, sweet, and creamy orange flesh offers a delectable flavor perfect for baking, roasting, pies, and soups. Originating from the Southern Appalachian region, this squash is known for its excellent storage capabilities, making it a favorite among gardeners and chefs alike. North Georgia Candy Roaster ensures a standout addition to any farm, garden, and kitchen! Squash is one of the plants grown in the traditional Native American vegetable growing technique called the Three Sisters. The other two plants in the Three Sisters are beans and corn. Each plant had its role in this companion planting tradition. Corn served as a structure for the vining beans to grow up. Squash served as a ground cover to prevent weeds from growing. Beans provided natural fertilizer for all. *Tip: Plant squash with beans and corn for companion planting. Harvesting: Harvest North Georgia Candy Roaster squash when they are full sized, the skin is hard, and the bottom of the fruit is lightened in color. A light frost will not damage fruits of winter squash. A light frost will not damage fruits of winter squash. Squash is best when cut, not pulled, from the vine.
