Fragrant, pink and white, formal double flowers (each to 3-4? diameter) have darker pink streaking. Bloom occurs in early spring (April), thus giving rise to the name April Series. ?April Dawn? came from a cross between C. japonica ?Berenice Boddy? and C. japonica ?Herme?. ?April Dawn? has unusually good winter hardiness.
