Cork Bark Oak Pre-Bonsai Tree – 2 Gallon

Species: Quercus suber Age: About 7 – 8 Years Height: About 12 – 16 Inches Trunk Size: About 1/2 – 3/4+ Inch Lighting: Full Sun to Partial Sun Type: Evergreen Difficulty: Medium Cork Bark Oaks or (Cork Oaks for short) is a fun bonsai species to work with if you wish to take care of a living fossil tree. In the Mediterranean basin, this tree is an ancient species with fossil remnants dating back to the Tertiary period! Larger farmed trees are known for producing a unique thick spongy bark from which wine bottle stoppers have been made for centuries. In bonsai, their distinctive gray-brown rough & knobby-looking bark gives smaller-sized trees a more aged look. Their twiggy branches naturally develop good ramifications. Their small-sized foliage growth is dense with the upper side of the leaf having a light green color and the underside of the leaf has a whitish color with a hairy texture. New leaves tend to appear in April and May when older leaves are also shed. They usually stay on the tree for 2 to 3 years, less often only 1 year if exposed to severe cold conditions. Extremely chilly winters with frosts can also lead to complete defoliation. They are a warm climate-loving species! Please note that Cork Bark Oaks can develop a bit of a reverse taper in its trunk if not monitored. This is a known issue as Cork Oak barks don’t “cork up” as much below the surface of the soil. Exposing the lower part of the trunk to the full sun will encourage the better corking formation and eventually overcome any reverse tapers.

20 DWARF Pomegranate Tree Seeds (Punica granatum) Nana Garden Fruit House Plant

20 DWARF POMEGRANATE Tree Seeds (Punica granatum) “Nana” Garden Fruit House Plant This showy, dense, dwarf shrub displays attractive orange-red single flowers at an early age, followed by bright orange-red ornamental fruit. Excellent for containers or for use in the garden. A very effective bonsai specimen. Thrives in hot, dry summer areas. While pomegranates come in a variety of sizes, the Nana variety is considered to be the dwarf pomegranate. Growing to a mature height between 3 and 4 feet, it’s ideal for use in landscape hedges, containers, and even bonsai gardening. A burst of orange and red blossoms through the summer and then a golden yellow in the fall is what you can expect from a dwarf pomegranate shrub. They do produce pomegranates, but the fruit is smaller and has a different taste. Since a dwarf pomegranate is used for ornamental purposes and only grows a few feet tall, it is ideal for pots and containers. While it may start out in a quart-size pot, you may end with having the shrub in a 3 or 5-gallon container by the time it reaches maturity. When your dwarf pomegranate is outside for the warm and hot months, you need to make sure that it is getting enough water twice a week. Watering it at the root, if your pomegranate is inside a pot, you want to make sure the water can drain efficiently during watering. Once you take the pomegranate in for the winter, you can water it once a week, making sure the soil is wet without soaking it. You do not want to give your pomegranate too much water. This could open up an environment for fungus and blossom rot on the flowers and fruit that are growing. You should not fertilize your pomegranate when it has just been planted. Too much fertilizer for a newly planted shrub can be a shock. Once a pomegranate goes into shock, it could take extra time to come back and overcome the trauma. Because their small size makes them ideal for containers and indoor gardening, they may even allow you to grow ornamental pomegranates in hardiness zones not suitable for planting pomegranates in the ground.”Zones: 7-11 or Anywhere as an Indoor Plant”Dwarf Pomegranate Germination:1) Seeds should be planted in loose seed starting mix, covering with a light 1/2 inch of soil.2) Keep the soil “moist”, Not wet as it will rot the seeds. Using a spray bottle to mist them until moist is optimal.3) Seeds will germinate at normal room temperature between 30-40 days, but using a heated propagator mat at 80 degrees can cut that time in half.4) Seeds Must be kept under a Bright Light, or in the direct sunlight until they germinate.”If you need Anything, Please Contact us First”
