Prunus serotina is a medium-sized, fast-growing forest tree growing to a height of 50–80 ft (15–24 m). Leaves are 2–5 in (5–13 cm) long, ovate-lanceolate in shape, with finely toothed margins. Fall leaf color is yellow to red. Flowers are small, white and 5-petalled, in racemes 4–6 in (10–15 cm) long which contain several dozen flowers. Use a spray bottle to mist and keep them slightly moist, but not overly wet.4) Use a heated propagator mat to keep them at appx. 75 degrees F.5) Keep in a lightly shaded area for the first 3 days. Then place in the full sun for only 1 hour each day for 1 week. Gradually increase the full sun until they are receiving 50% full sun each day, but never full sun all day.6) Keep moist with a spray bottle. 7) Germination is erratic, and will take anywhere from 14-90 days. Don’t toss out any that do not sprout early as they are still good and will sprout at a later time.
