Sow & Care Instructions Sow seeds indoors in seed flats – Start 8-10 weeks before last frost date in your area, .25-.5″ deep with soil temperatures 72-79 degrees f, you may need to use bottom heat pad or lights. Choose a well-drained sunny position and transplant 36″ apart when danger of frost has passed. Harvest using a sharp instrument, pick first fruits when they reach usable size, this helps accelerate the growth of the other peppers on the plant. Leave some on to mature, to color and sweeten up. Tips: Plant in fertile, well composted soil, mulch and provide adequate water. It helps to use row cover early in the season giving the plants extra warmth. Side dress when flowers begin to form. It is a great companion plant for basil. Warmth is essential for good fruit set. Pick fruit regularly to prolong cropping. Basic growing instructions will be supplied with the seed packet for your convenience. Aji Melocoton hot chili pepper seeds NON GMO heirloom open pollinated BIG FLAVOR

MADE IN USA Back in 2010 I bought my first assortment of heirloom seeds, off ebay actually, from Blue Ribbon Tomatoes. Unfortunately, they are no longer selling heirloom tomato seed, boo! Anyway, I bought 100 or so varieties and have been growing them out ever since. I also am a big fan of heirloom chilies and peppers. One of the hot peppers I’ve continued to grow, that has been a favorite, is the Aji Melocoton Aji Melocoton hot pepper seeds, heirloom, open-pollinated, non-gmo. 10 seeds per packet. Aji Melocoton have a fantastic flavor! Very productive. It has performed amazingly well for me in the high desert frontier at 4100 feet. My growing season is sometimes very long (May-November) and other years it can end in early September. No matter, this variety puts on a ton of fruit and does very well regardless of length of season. Great flavor and appearance. Aji Melocoton is from Peru and is a very flavorful chili pepper with a tropical taste. Melocoton means “peach” in Spanish. It’s a Baccatum variety and you will get lots of beautiful peach colored pods.The plants grows to over 3 feet in a pot and grow really big if you plant it in the ground. The pods start off white and then become like a yellow creamy color. After that they get a pink tinge and start to change to a beautiful peach color. They have a thin wall and are not very seedy.For fresh eating, all the baccatums are favored by most chili-heads, you won’t find anyone who says he/she didn’t like the bishop’s hat or Brazilian starfish for example. The pepper is very very flavorful, strong sweet aroma of tropical taste followed by a very hot sharp long lasting flavor of baccatum. I have been saving seed for 7 years and this is the step-by-step process I use every year and I’ll tell you, my germination rates are amazing! a quick note on seed storage… I feel through my experience the best way to store your seed is in the refrigerator. Some vegetable varieties produce seed that remains viable for many years (tomatoes) and others produce seed that does not store well under any conditions (onions). I believe seed stored under refrigerated conditions could last 10 years or more. I have just planted some ACE 55 seeds from 2000 this last summer 2017. They did great!
