Quick note: My seeds are grown, harvested and selected by me. I start ALL of my seedlings/transplants, so you know there are no chemicals, pesticides, insecticides, or harsh commercial fertilizers used in the products I produce. I use organic fertilizer, compost, and red worm castings, that’s it! I do not buy foreign seeds or seeds that are out of date. MADE IN USA Back in 2010 I bought my first assortment of heirloom seeds, off ebay actually, from Blue Ribbon Tomatoes in Kentucky. Unfortunately, they are no longer selling heirloom tomato seed, boo! Anyway, I bought 100 or so varieties and have been growing them out ever since. One of those tomatoes that I continue to grow out is the COYOTE CHERRY. This tomato performs great! This tomato, COYOTE CHERRY , performed amazingly well for me in the high desert frontier at 4100 feet. My growing season is sometimes very long (May-November) and other years it can end in early September. No matter, this variety puts on a ton of fruit and does very well regardless of length of season. Great flavor and appearance. COYOTE WILD YELLOW CHERRY TOMATO—–20 seeds per packet—–VERY PRODUCTIVE, this is a great variety. 65 days, INDETERMINATEA cluster of ripe “Coyote” tomatoes, still on the vine, was given to Craig LeHoullier by Maye Clement from Vera Cruz, Mexico, in 1990 during her visit to his display at the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Harvest Festival. She related that it was a tomato that grew wild in Mexico (Craig’s note: there is more to add, but I need to find the letter she sent to me). Due to the pale color, Craig mistakenly originally listed it in the SSE yearbook as Ivory Currant – but the true name, according to Maye, is indeed “Coyote”.Wild white/yellow cherry from Mexico, large plant gets loaded with them, voted the “Tastiest” tomato at the CHOPTAG 09 tomato tasting, sweet like eating bits of fruit.Delightful little cherry tomatoes are creamy ivory with hints of yellow and an absolutely unforgettable taste. The flavor is not only sweet but is also marked by a fruity complexity. They are so irresistible that you won’t want to stop eating them at harvest time. Plants are large and quite prolific, bearing long clusters of these 1/2-inch delicious little treats. Heirloom variety originally from Mexico. This is close in shape and flavor ot another cherry tomato I currently have available, THE CHAMPAGNE CHERRY TOMATO. Champagne Cherry won “CHOPTAG” IN ’07, so you know they are both delicious. Champagne is just slightly larger than the fruit of Coyote, but both grow to be huge spawling plants with HUNDREDS of tomatoes on each plant. I canned these one year and was able to enjoy them through the winter months.Great choice for an “HEIRLOOM TASTING PLATTER” with different colors. Lots of ways to get creative here.Did You Know? Schelske Family Heirloom RARE tomato seeds non-gmo heirloom open pollinated
Schelske Family Heirloom tomato seeds, heirloom, open-pollinated, non-gmo. 25 seeds per packet. Schelske Family heirloom has good flavor, is red, has darker shoulders, and is shaped differently! It doesn’t show in the photos, but this variety has darker shoulders. Very productive. It has performed amazingly well for me in the high desert frontier at 4100 feet. No matter, this variety puts on lots of tomatoes and does very well regardless of length of season. Great flavor, growth, and appearance. One of the tomatoes I’ve grown, that has been a favorite of mine and my family, and one I have grown several times is the SCHELSKE FAMILY HEIRLOOM. This variety produces LOTS of paste type tomatoes loaded with rich heirloom taste. This variety was brought to California’s central valley by Oklahoma migrants who came to the area to pick fruit. One of those families was the Schelske Family who moved to Dinuba, CA but had numerous other extended family members stuck in Oildale, just outside Bakersfield, CA. They found that this tomato performed very well in the heat of the central valley just as I found it grows great as the heat of the desert! It grows prolifically and doesn’t stop until frost! Another bonus!! I have problems with my Romas and my San Marzanos getting blossom end rot—-but not with this tomato as the photos show, this heirloom has not suffered from blossom end rot any of the years I’ve grown it. Fruits are larger than your regular Roma and have a fantastic tomato flavor. Excellent in salsas, sauces, or as sun dried tomatoes…YUMM! Upon closer inspection this looks like it could be San Marzano with the tipped end, however as I stated before this has some wild shoulder color that I have not yet seen in the San Marzano’s I currently produce. This is a tomato that a family grew one year, saw it performed extremely well, saved seed and continued to do so for close to 100 years. And that is the wonderful thing about heirloom seeds, someone saw such great things with a particular plant/variety/fruit, that they had the foresight to not only save the seed, but to continually select representatives that were outstanding.
