Japanese White Lilac Tree Seeds(Syringa reticulata)Native to Japan, The Japanese Lilac Tree is Larger than the Shrub Lilacs and Blooms a Little Later. It Produces Large Clusters of Small Creamy-White, Very Fragrant Flowers which Attract Butterflies & Hummingbirds. Very Cold Hardy & Thrives in Zones 3-7. They Grow to a Height of 25 to 30 Feet Tall, & 15′ Wide. They may be Single or Multi-stemmed. The Bark is Reddish Brown, but the Most Distinctive Feature is it’s Horizontal Lenticels. The Leaves are Dark Green and have a Drooping Habit which are Beautiful even when they’re not in Bloom. The Flowers Bloom in June and are Creamy-White Colored Panicles that are Very Fragrant attracting Butterflies & Hummingbirds. It will Tolerate Heavy Clay Soils and Urban Conditions Along with Browsing by Deer. This Tree will Tolerate Partial Shade; However, Medium to Full Sun is Required for Prolific Flower Production. Good Air Circulation is also Recommended. The Japanese Lilac Tree would be a Great Addition to the Patio Area to Provide Flowers in the Late Spring to Early Summer. “It is the Most Trouble Free Lilac.” It may Also be Considered as a Street Tree, Large Hedge, or an Accent for a Shrub Border.Japanese Lilac Germination:1) Let seeds soak in water for 24 hours.2) Stratify seeds by placing them in zip lock bag of “moist” peat moss or vermiculite. Place them in the fridge for 90 days. Cut a few tiny holes in the bag for air circulation & periodically check them to be sure they are staying moist, never drying out. “Not wet, just Moist” A spray bottle works best to lightly mist them.3) Plant seeds 1/4″ deep in a well mixed & well draining seed starting mix, keeping them no less than 65 degrees F.4) Germination will occur between 14-45 days. If some sprout early, don’t toss out the rest as they’re still good and just need more time.
