Loquat var. Vista White – Eriobotrya japonica – Japanese Plum

Our seedlings are grown using seed from our own mature Vista White Loquat tree and are about a year old. Our trees produce a small to medium round, light yellow fruit, with deliciously sweet and juicy pale flesh. They are zoned for areas 8 – 12, will grow in 7, but if they are subjected to too many days of lower temps, will probably not fruit. When established, they survive periods of minimal rain and freezing temps and are growing here in our South Florida heat and humidity very well. They adapt well to various soil conditions as long as the soil doesn’t contain high salinity. They are self-pollinating, but are said to have even more production if nearby other loquats. The leaves can be used medicinally, and the seeds create a delicious liqueur.
