Sparaxis elegans 10 fresh 2024 So Cal garden collected seeds.Native to the winter rainfall Bokkeveld plateau South Africa.Excellent Winter / Spring Flowers for Mediterranean gardens!Salmon to Pink to Orange flowers.Flowers are radially symmetrical.Inner markings near the base with a broken black band.The band often has 2 yellow streaks at the edges. Brown to dark red anthers are coiled and twisted around the style.Perfect companion plants and flowers for succulents, Cactus, Aloes, Agave, drought tolerant, collectors, dry Mediterranean gardens!!Excellent species to grow with Moraea, Watsonia, Gladiolus, Babiana, Geissorhiza, Ferraria, Romulea, Veltheimia, and Ixia species.My Sparaxis Elegans flower in my SoCal inland 9B garden from late Feb through March and into April, depending on the weather.Summer dormant and prefers a summer rest from significant irrigation or rain. I haven’t had issues with my Sparaxis bulbs getting some occasional dormant season water. But, I recommend you take care to make sure they are in well-draining soil, and not getting lots of water during dormancy! A word to the wise. LOTS of the photos for eBay and other online plant sales are copied (not original), enhanced, photo-shopped, etc… My photos are 100% real, legitimate, not enhanced, and the majority are straight-up pictures of my plants in my garden, and in most cases the genetics you will be getting.
