Here are the steps you can follow to grow strawberries from seed: 1. Decide if cold stratification is appropriate. 2. Prepare a seed-starting mix by combining equal parts of peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite. Add a small amount of soil if appropriate. Fill a seed tray or small pots with the mix, leaving a quarter-inch space at the top. 3. Sow the seeds on top of the soil and gently press them down. Do not cover them with soil as strawberry seeds need light to germinate. 4. Water the soil gently, making sure not to wash away the seeds. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. 5. Cover the seed tray or pots with a plastic wrap or a lid to create a greenhouse effect and retain moisture. Starting seeds indoors or a greenhouse are a must for temperature control.
