Calanthe masuca DEEP PURPLE flower terrestrial orchid species India
Calanthe masuca is a terrestrial orchid species from India, China, and Japan with purple flowers. It can be grown as a garden plant if you lived in a mild climate of hardiness zones 8b or warmer with summers that are not overly hot. Otherwise, it is a choice houseplant that requires cool to warm temperatures, moderate light, and plenty of water and fertilizer during summer months. Stop fertilizing around late October, and continue watering through the winter allowing the plant to dry out between waterings. When the new growths appear in Spring resume summer water and fertilizer schedule. Offered here is a plant growing in 2.5” plastic pot.
