You are buying 4 Chestnut Oak trees. Some of these trees originally are 24-36" tall but trimmed to 13-18". We trim our oak trees in the fall so they will generate a stronger root system and have a thicker stem. This is a great help for the trees to handle dry summers and windy conditions. These trees will generally out-grow a much larger transplanted tree! These trees are 2 years old and have been grown outside. They are now dormant. The trees are partially in the ground and will be freshly dug when purchased. They will be shipped bare root containers that can be planted directly into the ground without disturbing the root system. Generally these trees grow fast once established. In good soil with adequate light and moisture, these trees can grow 24+ inches in one year. With heavy rains and hot weather, some leaves on young trees may turn yellow or rust color. If this has happens, it will not adversely affect the trees long term viability. Also, remember to acclimate your new trees. If your tree becomes stressed, keep them in partial shade for a few weeks. Remember to keep the soil semi-moist throughout the summer. The Chestnut Oak tree is one of the toughest/durable trees in the oak family. They will grow to about ~75' tall and have beautiful fall foliage. They do well in partial shade and full sun. Generally, these trees grow fast once established. In good soil with adequate light and moisture, the trees can grow 24+ inches in one year. They appear in a variety of geographies from hills to low-lands and can tolerate a wide variety of soils. The Chestnut oaks produce large acorns about 1 1/4" long. They are in the white oak family and produce acorns on an annual basis whereas the red oaks do not. They are also resistant to most any pest or disease. Deer/squirrels love the acorns and will pass by a Red Oak acorn in favor of the Chestnut Oak acorn. The Chestnut oak is also one of the most sought after oaks because of its’ unique leave and acorn size. Another unique and hard to find Oak is the Chinkapin Oak which produces the sweetest acorn for wildlife. See my other auctions for the rare Chinkapin and Sawtooth Oaks. Also, see the Dwarf Red Buckeye, Ohio Buckeye and Gingko tree auctions for other unique and hard to find trees. You'll love having trees that most other people do not have. Thanks for considering my auctions.I generally ship ASAP and package trees the day of shipping to keep trees fresh.
