Fragrant Orchid Species Holcoglossum kimballianum. Blooming Size Plant

This listing is for Holcoglossum kimballiana. Well-established blooming size plants mounted on Madrone and then potted in a basket. These plants were initially mounted on a Madrone stick. They quickly outgrew their 1st home so I decided to just set the mount in a basket and fill it with coco fiber. They’ve loved it! And now they can be grown multiple ways. You can grow them in the basket on the table or as a hanging basket. And, if you have a problem keeping your plants wet, you can simply nest the basket in a 3″ terra cotta, glazed clay or plastic pot. This will keep the roots more humid while minimizing the chance of root rot! Beautiful fragrant, crystalline white flowers with a purple lip. The top 2 petals twist and give it the look of a flying dove. Large plants produce up to 20 flowers per spike. Flowers late summer-early fall. Terete (long pointy) leaves reach 6-8″ long. Mature plants develop into open, shrubby specimens. Care: cool-warm temps, bright indirect light, regular watering spring-fall with a slightly drier winter rest. Regular light feeding spring-fall. The last plant picture are representative of the plant that will be shipped to the buyer. Please note: the plant received will not be in flower at the time of shipment. Blooming Size Miniature Orchid Species Plant Dracula mantissa.

This listing is for Dracula mantissa. Well established, blooming size plant in a 3″ net pot. This species produces very small (about the size of a dime) flowers that truly have a monkey face! The short flower spikes emerge around the margin of the plant and the flowers face down. Mature plants will produce 50-100 flower spikes at a time! The flowers tend to open all at the same time so it looks like a whole pack of monkeys (albeit tiny monkeys!) looking down at you! Not only that, each flower spike will produce 2-5 flowers in succession over a period of a couple of months. Best if hung up in a basket but this is one of the few Dracula species that can be grown in a pot on a table. Flowers late winter-summer for us. These plants are wonderful to own if you can give them what they want. Dracula culture is simple; cool, moist, and shady.
