Grown in grown in Florida outdoors in ground most often but makes nice potted, even more so hanging basket plant. Callisia fragrans is a great tropical / subtropical plant for beginners. Plant has elongated leaves that in shade are bright green and with more light get purple hue and steaks and even more purple when grown with lots of direct sunlight. Easily transfers from being outdoors during summer to being brought inside for winter. Pairing the look of a bromeliad with a draping stem spawling is visually stunning in hanging basket.
