Festuca idahoensis is a perennial grass in the Poaceae family. A native to western North America. Some common names include Idaho fescue and Blue Bunchgrass. It grows naturally in many ecosystems such as grasslands, open plains, and even shady forests. It is a clumping grass that gets a few feet tall. The leaves on the bottom are rolling short and stiff located at the base. The inflorescences are hairy on spiked seeds. It is eaten by wildlife and domestic animals. It can easily be grown in most soils in full sun. Zones 3-10 Germination Sow seeds the thickness of the seeds on top of the medium and lightly cover. Keep moist in a bright spot. Do not cover and keep temperatures around 65-75F. Germination is in 7-30 days.
