Ptychosperma elegans is a palm in the Arecaceae family. A native of Australia. Some familiar names are solitaire palm or elegant palm. It can grow to almost 40 feet tall in its native climate. The slender stem gets around 4 inches wide in circumference and bulges at the base. The branch is light gray, and you can see the leaf scars from growth in the past. The fronds can reach 6 feet tall, with 7-10 of them. The inflorescence is just below the crown shaft with sets of flowers in groups of three.
