Bishop’s Crown Pepper Originated from Brazil, Bishop’s Crown Pepper is named for its distinct three-sided shape resembling a Bishop’s Crown. It’s also known as Christmas bell pepper. The plants are large growing 3 to 4 ft tall and produce flying saucer like 1 ½” wide pods. The flesh of each pod is thin but crisp. They mature from green to red. This is a mild pepper with a sweet and fruity flavor, although the body of the pods may have some detectable heat, but the wings are usually sweet and mild. With their subtle flavor they can be used with great versatility, spanning recipes from salads to salsas. They are also great when stuffed. Their unique shape offers plenty of space on the inside.
