You are purchasing six 13-18" Sawtooth Oaks shipped bare root. These trees are 2-3 years old. Some trees that are over 18" tall may be trimmed some to fit into the shipping container. This results with the trees having a stronger root system and a new primary shoot. This approach produces a stronger and faster growing tree. These trees will be freshly dug when purchased. Generally, these trees grow fast once established. In good soil with adequate light and moisture, the trees can grow 24+ inches in one year. When planting, keep the soil semi-moist throughout all seasons especially in the summer, but do not over water. If planting before spring, the young trees can handle direct sun or partial shade. The Sawtooth Oak tree is one of the toughest/durable trees in the oak family. They grow very fast and will reach about ~65' tall. They do well in partial shade and/or full sun. They appear in a variety of geographies from hills to low lands and can tolerate a wide variety of soils. The Sawtooth Oak produce a unique acorn with their hairy caps. They are also resistant to most any pest or disease. Deer, turkey and other animal love the acorns and will pass many other acorns in favor of the Sawtooth Oak acorns. This is also one of the most sought after oak because of its' unique leaves which look like the teeth of a saw blade (i.e. Sawtooth Oak).I generally ship ASAP, I keep all trees fresh and they are not packaged until the day of shipping. NOTE: Purchasing of bare root trees & plants will end April 14 due to their reduction in viability. I will start shipping bare root again on Oct 15.
