The flowers are large, averaging 7 to 8 inches across, with a mauve edged lavender spreading out from a ruby red throat. There is a very high degree of variability in the speckling on the petals. The large 7 to 8 inch blooms are born on a reasonably strong, upward growing, bush with large glossy, triangular oval notched leaves. Although it can be grown planted in the ground in the tropics with very good care, it will perform better, produce larger flowers and live much longer as a well tended potted plant. This one can be a bit fussy, so take care to product from direct hot sun and avoid over watering.
