Shiitake Mushroom Plug Spawn with a customized drill bit with stop collar and two 12oz packs of soy wax. 1000 plugs on spiral cut dowels usually in two bags of 500. Spiral cut helps to ensure more valuable mycelium stays in the grooves when hammered in. Used to inoculate freshly cut logs. Made with certified organic grains. Free shipping in the USA.Shiitake grows best on oak logs followed closely by sugar maple and other hardwoods. Fresh cut logs should be used to prevent competitor fungi although it is best to allow the log to rest, off the ground after fresh cutting for 2-3 weeks prior to plugging. The drill bits i sell are approx 8.5mm wide and 25mm deep (apprx 5/16"X1") with a stop collar for perfect depth and speed. They have been newly redesigned to fit in a drill chuck, and also a quick attach as well as for faster drilling speed. Made to order to ensure freshness, these sometimes will take approx 7-10 days to ship although I try to have some in stock ready to ship immediately, large orders of several thousand sometimes wipe out the immediately available inventory.
