A native to Mexico and the United States. Some familiar names include Copper Canyon Daisy, Mexican Bush Marigold, Mount Lemmon Marigold, and Shrub Marigold. It can grow to 8 feet tall but usually around 4-6 feet tall. The leaves are narrow and pointy with teethed margins. The flowers are small, but plenty of them, a bright yellow to pale yellow. They are in bloom from the fall into spring. In warmer climates, it can bloom for ten months. A drought-tolerant plant that can thrive in full sun or full shade. It has a pungent smell that keeps away mosquitos and brings in birds, bees, and butterflies. It prefers well-drained soil and is excellent for a xeriscape. Zones 8-11 Germination You should use a well-drained, sandy compost with sand or grit. Sow seeds on top of the soil and tamp in. Place the seed tray in filtered bright light and keep moist until germination.
