See my other Sycamore seeds listed .'Morton Circle' is a cultivar with exfoliating bark and is the London planetree’s most interesting characteristic, and Exclamation! is no exception. The mottled brown, green and tan bark peels off in large plates revealing patches of interior bark in varying shades of cream to white.It has large palmately lobed leaves, and is monoecious with different fruit size and color. Medium green, deeply palmate-lobed foliage cloaks the tree all summer with an occasional brief display of yellow in the fall. It’s light fruiting as a young tree and a naturally anthracnose-resistant species . Mature Height & Spread : 55' x 35' USDA Hardiness Zone: 4-8 Medicinal use : The leaves are astringent and vulnerary. The fresh leaves are bruised and applied to the eyes in the treatment of ophthalmia. A decoction is used to treat dysentery and a cream made from the leaves is used to heal wounds and chilblains. The leaves are harvested in the spring and summer and can be dried for later use. The bark is boiled in vinegar and then used in the treatment of diarrhea , dysentery, hernias and toothache.Other uses : A fabric dye is obtained from the branches and roots. Wood - tough, difficult to split, not durable. It is not esteemed for carpentry, but has certain advantages in cabinet making, it is also used for inlay work and wood pulp.Known hazards : In hot dry climates the hairs of the fruits and leaves are believed to cause an effect similar to hay fever.
