The plant is native to the southeastern US and grows up to 8 feet tall and gets unique graceful seed heads in late summer to fall and great green foliage all summer. This species does not produce the edible sugar cane used in commerce, but these are still very ornamental and beautiful plants. Wild Sugar Cane is typically hardy to zone 6. These beautiful plants grow best in full sun to part shade. They would make excellent additions to your rare plant collection, or just make a unique statement in your yard.
