Please note : most cultivars only produce a few seeds a year on a mature tree which is why I only have a few listed for each one . Get them while you can .This hybrid is a cross between Japanese witch hazel (H. japonica) and Chinese witch hazel (H. mollis). It is somewhat coarse, loosely-branched, medium to large, deciduous shrubs that typically grow 12-20’ tall. They are particularly noted for their spidery, often fragrant, mid- to late winter flowers which appear before the spring foliage emerges. This typically matures as a vase-shaped shrub to 6-10' tall and as wide. Showy, non-fragrant, yellow flowers in axillary clusters bloom along the bare stems in mid- to late winter (February-March ) in zone 7 .Each flower has four, narrow, ribbon-like, curled and crinkled pale yellow petals (each to 3/4" long). Calyx cup is purple-red. Ovate-rounded leaves (to 4” long) emerge yellowish green in spring, mature to medium green and finally change to yellow in fall.Zone: 5 to 8Height: 6.00 to 10.00 feetSpread: 6.00 to 10.00 feet Medicinal use of Witch Hazel: Witch hazel bark is a traditional herb of the North American Indians who used it to heal wounds, treat tumors, eye problems etc. A very astringent herb, it is commonly used in the West and is widely available from both herbalists and chemists. It is an important ingredient of proprietary eye drops, skin creams, ointments and skin tonics. It is widely used as an external application to bruises, sore muscles, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, sore nipples, inflammations etc. Edible parts of Witch Hazel: Seed - raw or cooked. An oily texture. The seeds are about the size of a barley grain and have a thick bony coat. A refreshing tea is made from the leaves and twigs.
