I'm selling over 600 + kinds of seeds ( and also live plants during the warmer months ) so check my other auctions . You are bidding on 15 CHINESE QUINCE SEEDS - Pseudocydonia sinensis. Synonyms: Chaenomeles sinensis, Cydonia sinensis, Malus sinensis This is a small deciduous tree or large shrub with a dense oval crown. It typically grows to 10-20' tall. It is perhaps best noted for its attractive form, large fruits and interesting bark. Elliptic to ovate, shiny dark green leaves (to 4 1/2" long) have finely serrated margins. Leaves turn yellow-red in fall. Cup-shaped, fragrant pink flowers (to 1 1/2" across) bloom in April-May.Flowers are followed by huge, oval fruits (quinces to 5 - 8" long) which ripen in fall (October) with a sweetly fragrant aroma. ( you dont want these falling on your head ) Fruits are edible off the tree or may be used in jams and syrups. Flakey, sycamore-like bark exfoliates into an attractive patchwork of gray, green and brown on the fluted mature trunks of this tree. Zone: 6 to 8 Habitat Found at elevations around 1000 metres in Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Hebei, Hubei, Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Shaanxi, Shandong and Zhejiang ProvincesMedicinal use of Chinese Quince: The fruit is antitussive. It contains several medically active constituents including organic acids plus the flavonoids rutin and quercetin. It is used in Korea to treat asthma, the common cold, sore throats, mastitis and tuberculosis.Edible parts of Chinese Quince: Fruit - eaten as a sweetmeat, candied, preserved in syrup or made into a liqueur. The juice can also be mixed with ginger and made into a beverage. The fruit is very large, up to 18 cm long.Other uses : The fruits are very aromatic and are placed in a bowl to impart a delightful spicy scent to a room. Wood - hard, dark red.
