15 Hardy Fast Growing Mexican Fan Palm Tree Seeds ( Washingtonia robusta) from the Rio Grande Valley in South Texas. These stately trees do well in hot and dry weather, poor soil, and under drought conditions. Fast growing-up to 6 feet yearly-the Mexican Fan Palm is suited to hardiness zones 9 through 11 and is freeze tolerant upwards of 20 degrees F. They also make for excellent potted palms when grown indoors.. For germination, remove the outer pithy husk and scarify the seeds with sandpaper being careful not to expose the seed kernel. Then, soak the seeds in warm water 24/7 changing water every day using warm water. Plant the seeds in potting mix and keep themmoist ( not wet ) and warm. These are tropical and don't rely on seasonal temperature triggers for germination. Thus the seedsmay take long to germinate, between 2 and 10 months. Note: Seeds are mailed USPS First Class in a standard envelope so there will be no tracking number.
