You are bidding on 15 KNAP HILL SCARLET JAPANESE QUINCE SEEDS - Chaenomeles speciosa . Synonyms: Chaenomeles laganaria, Cydonia lagenaria, Cydonia speciosa, Pyrus japonica Salmon-scarlet flowers from January to April followed by apple-like green fruits. Has glossy dark green leaves. Height: 5 ft. to 5 ft.Width: 6 ft. to 6 ft. USDA Hardiness Zone : 5 to 9 Europe Hardiness Zone : 5 - 7 Medicinal use of Japanese Quince: The fruit is analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, astringent and digestive. A decoction is used internally in the treatment of nausea, joint pains, cholera and associated cramps. Edible parts of Japanese Quince: Fruit - cooked. Very harsh and acid raw but fragrant when cooked. Used for jams, jellies etc and as a flavoring with cooked apples. The fruit can be apple or pear-shaped and up to 6.5 cm long x 6.5 cm wide.Other uses of the herb: Plants can be grown as a medium sized hedge.
