Even when fully mature, the thick, crisp pods of this pea are tender, sweet and edible and the shelled peas are also delicious. The vines grow up to 6' tall and are mature in approximately 70 days. Nutritional Value: This food is very low in Saturated Fat, Cholesterol and Sodium. It is also a good source of Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Pantothenic Acid, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Potassium, and a very good source of Dietary Fiber, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Thiamin, Folate, Iron and Manganese. Growing Instructions: Peas thrive in cool weather and do not transplant well, so they should be planted outside 4-6 weeks before the last frost or when the average soil temperate reaches at least 40°. If planting later, remember that most peas won't tolerate weather above 75°. If plating peas in your soil for the first time, keep in mind that a powder inoculant of beneficial bacteria should coat the seeds. Plant the peas 2" apart and 2" deep in light soil and full sun. Plant in rows 6-8" apart and allow for a trellis. For early spring and fall crops, plant in the same manner. Before they bloom, they need to be kept moist, but not wet. After blooming, slightly increase the water.
