Made from a cross between a hardy waterlily and a tropical waterlily it still retains the hardy traits for overwintering. Violicious is an eye catching hardy waterlily. Lavender flower petals with a bright yellow center. It was made by a cross between a hardy waterlily and a tropical waterlily. Lavender flowers stand over green pads and makes for a real eye catcher and will be the talking point of any pond. In the past, only Tropical lilies exhibited this Lavender color and tropical lilies must be replanted ever year. Not so with Violicious and will liven up your pond from year after year. Hardies grow horizontally across the container, so a wide pot is necessary for planting. The plant should be planted at one edge of the container with the rhizome planted at an angle of about 45 degrees and the growing tip exposed. Remember to add fertilizer, use a rich garden soil, and top the soil with an inch or two of gravel or sand. The plant can be lowered to a depth of 6 inches to begin with, and then lowered to a depth of 12 to 18 inches as the plant grows. Hardies should be planted in early spring. They bloom from June through September depending on the weather and become dormant during the colder months. As the following spring approaches, growth will begin again.
